The Easiest, Tastiest Easter Treat Ever !! | In the kitchen with Maija

When I think 'easter' I think of pretty pastel colours, bunnies and chicks, chocolate mini eggs, slightly warmer days and most importantly… chocolate nests. I don't think there has ever been an easter before where I haven't consumed at least one chocolate nest. I pretty sure that it is probably the most 'fool proof' recipe invented ever!

And the best part (apart from eating them) is that you only need three ingredients and you can make as little or as many as you desire!!

Ingredients
  • Milk chocolate (baking chocolate is the best for melting)
  • A cereal of your choice (you can use cornflakes, coco pops, shredded wheat…)
  • chocolate mini eggs
Equipment
  • Two bowls (one larger one smaller)
  • small sauce pan
  • spatula
  • spoon
  • muffin cases

Firstly, using your chosen cereal break it up into a bowl so that it is easy to mix with the melted chocolate later on. My little brother was helping me out so whilst he started on breaking up the cereal I got to melting the chocolate.

I broke up as much chocolate as I felt was necessary, there are no particular measurements its all by eye. I ended up adding more chocolate and I roughly used around 5/6 lines of the chocolate bar.

Once that was all melted and my brother had finished crushing up the cereal we added the melted chocolate to the now unrecognisable shredded wheat cereal and mixed the two together.

Once it was all mixed and sticking together we placed the mixture into our muffin cases and shaped them into nests putting our little mini eggs into them (not with out eating a few though).

Now all you have to do is leave them to set for 15-20 minutes (or if your impatient like I am you can place them in the fridge for a little).

And there you have it; the easiest easter recipe ever invented!

I hope everyone has a happy, chocolate filled day on sunday.

Kisses,
Maija Lily Xx
