Christmas Day & My First Blue Box

The Christmas period is filled with love, family, laughter, kindness, giving, very bad cracker jokes and food… lots of food !! The saying "eyes bigger than my belly" definitely comes to mind, haha.

It is half one on the day after boxing day and I'm still currently in my new pyjamas recovering from a food coma !! All I can say is that I'm certainly looking forward to starting off 2015 healthily.

Aside from my actual age being 15, the 5 year old inside of me always pays a visit during christmas. I started off the morning waking up at 5:30 am to then wake my little brother (who is 8 years younger than me) up so we could open up our stockings that 'father christmas' left us. So 20 minutes later we were all three meters deep in wrapping paper and presents and begging to go down downstairs to see if 'father christmas' left us the 'main presents'. Which he did.

I got my first 'blue box' !! I'm so grateful for the Rubedo (rose gold) heart tag pendant necklace. I'm so in love with it.

I was also lucky enough to get the Victoria Secret London 2014 robe, which I am also obsessed with.

I am so grateful for all my other presents, especially one…

My grandma got my tickets to attend LONDON FASHION WEEKEND !!!! How cool !! The minute I saw it my mind already started planning my outfit. eeekkk, my smile is identical to the cheshire cats right now !!

Im also so thankful for the family I got the spend Christmas and Boxing day with.

I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas filled with laughter and happiness.

Christmas Kisses,

Green Tea, Vogue and Me Turns 1 !!

1 whole year. 12 months. 52 weeks. 365 days.

It's crazy to think I've been blogging for a year now, yet, its even crazier to think of just how fast this 'year of blogging' has sped by.

I love how even after a year, writing a blog post doesn't feel like a chore. I always feel so excited to share the newest pieces to my wardrobe with you guys, my recent favourites, my style crushes and so on…

I lay in bed planning outfits, thinking of how I can style a new trend, sometimes designing a complete fashion show. Is that just me? Or is it the same in the mind of every 'fashion enthusiast'?

Anyway, I would just like to say how thankful I am for every comment, every view and how much your kind words put a smile on my face.

I'm currently sitting here writing this with a… you guessed it, a green tea. haha.

It's been an amazing blog year filled with, well, fashion. I hope to grow as a writer, blogger and designer in the years to come. I hope you will all be joining me in my future adventures.

Kisses,

Queen of Hearts

You know when your online looking at clothes and you see an item that you fall in love with at first sight. Well, this jumper was one of those. It is so versatile, I have I already worn it a million times!

Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Topshop

Although, I have to say, getting my hands on this jumper was a slight trouble. I left it too late to order online as by the time I got round to ordering it they no longer had my size in stock. So then, I searched for stores which they had it in and luckily they had 1 left in the oxford circus store in London. But it was all worth it in the end because - I mean - how cute is this heart jumper !!

My Birthday Weekend

15.

I've been racking my brain trying to find something a 15 year old can do that a 14 year old can't… and all I've thought of is getting into a 15 rated film at the cinema without getting turned away because of having an incorrect I.D. haha.

Saturday - My birthday.
But anyway, my birthday weekend began on saturday, 18th October, which was my actual birthday. My morning began 'fairly early' (6:30am) when I woke up and jumped into my little brothers bed. Only for him to look up at me and say "what!?" with about as much attitude as a 6 year old can master, before remembering it was my birthday and giving me a big smile and hug. I later opened all my cards and presents. I got the 'Fast and Furious' DVD box set (which is one of my all time favourite film series), and I also just recently got my little brother, Max, obsessed with the films as well. I also got from my parents these really cool 'vintage style' vogue posters. As well as enough fashion books to last me… for a while anyway, hehe.

Mid Morning myself along with my mum and grandma and other grandma headed to Covent Garden to go to the Laduree (possibly one of my all time favourite places).

We then got a cab to Mount Street where the Balenciaga store is. My mum and dad put aside a bag in the store for me to look at, try on, etc, because of it being on the pricier side. They wanted me to be 100% positive.

As I entered the small store I was overwhelmed with things I wanted to mentally transfer into my own wardrobe. As I walked around I gently felt all the different materials; sheepskin, leather, fur. Until I found myself standing in front of 'the bag'. The second I lay my eyes on it, I knew I couldn't possibly exit the store without it. I tried it on looking in the oversized mirror, looking at it from the left then from the right then again from the left, but my love for the bag just grew.

We then headed home. Once we got home I got to see some more of my relatives and my best friend came round. Originally we were all going to go out to dinner but I decided after such a busy day I would prefer to just get Nando's take in and watch The X factor whilst we were all in our comfy pyjamas.

It was a perfect day, filled with laughter and love, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Sunday - the day of my party.
For my party, me and four of my closest friends went to the Sanderson Hotel in London for their Alice in Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea. It was super fun, again filled with laughter, far too much tea and far too many sandwiches and  cakes.

I wore:
Black body - Asos
Black blazer - Topshop
trouser - Topshop
shoes - Zara
Bag - Balenciaga

I am most grateful for the entire weekend and all the people I got to spend it with.

Kisses,

The Swinging 60's

Hey guys, so I'm not sure if I've said before but as one of my GCSE subjects I've chosen art, and now that i'm in year 10 the course work has already begun. For my first topic I have (not surprisingly) chosen to base it on fashion - the 1960's to be precise.

The 'swinging 60's' is one of my all time favourite era's of fashion. The bright colours, 'flower power', coats and mini skirts. I also love the versatility of the 60's, how much it ranged from the early sixties through to the late sixties, from sophisticated and casual to bright colours and bold prints. Who doesn't love it the 60's!?

During the early 60s, women's fashion followed the trends worn by the iconic Jackie Kennedy. Women everywhere wanted to copy her classy, yet fashionable look. Known for her Pill box hats, Suits in pastel colours, Short boxy-style jackets, Shift dresses, Oversized sunglasses and Pearls.

My art teacher suggested I looked at Mary Quant, who I remembered I had seen some of her pieces at the V&A museum (which I did a post on at the start of the year). I fell deeply in love with pretty much all of her collections, from her bright colours and mini skirts to her monochrome prints.

Twiggy (Lesley Hornby) was named "The Face of '66" by the Daily Express. In the mid 60's at 16 years of age, Twiggy became internationally known as the world's first supermodel.

And we cannot forget maybe the most iconic movie of all time… "breakfast at tiffany's".

Staring Audrey Hepburn, yet another fashion icon throughout the sixties.

Overall, I would say that the 60's were maybe the most important years of fashion. I mean, where would we be today without mini skirts? haha.

Kisses,
Maija Lily Xx
