V&A: Shoes, Pleasure & Pain

After missing the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A museum we decided we couldn't also miss out on the Shoes, Pleasure & Pain exhibition so we got the tube to South Kensington (aka my favourite place) and got some tickets to go into the showing room.

The exhibition was all about the how the designs of shoes has evolved throughout the eras. How the shapes have changed; the heels height, the heels circumference, the colours…

The first shoe we saw as we walked into the exhibition room was my overall favourite (I decided that before I even saw any of the rest). It was the Glass slipper from the fairytale Cinderella.

Ive also fallen helplessly inlove with these emerald green feathered Jimmy Choos, and I want them, I mean how amazing are they !!?

I had a little laugh about these platform boots and decided that they are most likely taller than I am, haha!!

We then went to the upstairs part of the exhibition were there was a bit about the making of the shoes which I found super interesting.

Upstairs there was also a mini documentary interviewing 5 people in the business of shoes; Christian Louboutin, Sandra Choi (the creative directer of Jimmy choo), Manolo Blahnik, and two other people who I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember the names of!

And to finish the exhibition it wouldn't be a museum trip for me if I didn't get some postcards.

The shoes in the top right hand corner are probably my favourite shoes I saw (other than the glass slipper), I love love love them and here's a fact for any SATC diehard fan like myself; they were worn by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City!

I had a lovely day with my mum as we 'oohed' and 'ahhed' at all the shoes. If you get the chance, definitely check the exhibition out!

What are you favourites of the shoes I showed?

Kisses,
Maija Lily Xx
