5 ways to help you become a morning person

The idea of being a morning person has always intrigued me, yet, for some reason (aka laziness) I have never quite been able to make the commitment of becoming an early riser.

As I think I've said many times before I love sleep, but I hate the fact that it means you end up wasting half the day away when you have a lay in - especially my kind of lay in which normally ends at around 12am (although I have been know to sleep into about 2pm before, please tell me I'm not the only one!?) So if anyone else suffers from the horrible 'I can't get out of bed in the morning' problem, we can go on this trip of recovery together - this is how to become a morning person..

1. Let's all be serious, if your currently waking up at 9am and above your not going to be able to function suddenly waking up at 6:30am - honestly it would be like one of those out of body moments... (Not a pretty sight either) so the best thing to do is slowly start setting your alarm clock 15 minutes earlier everyday. This will help you to slowly but surely get used to early morning but at a steady pace.

2. This next tip is SO important - honestly it might be the only thing keeping me from pressing the snooze button and relapsing back to my lay-in ways. Put your alarm clock/phone further than arms reach when your laying in bed as it means you have to get out of bed in order to turn it off which therefore means you will be less inclined to press snooze and snuggle back into bed.

3. STRETCH. Jump around a little, just wake your body up a bit; again it will prevent you from falling asleep quite so easily.

4. Let's back track a little... Go to sleep earlier !! If you are staying up till 2 or 3 the morning of course your going to need a lay-in as your body needs at least 7 hours of sleep per night. So the earlier you go to sleep the easier it will for you to wake up in the morning. It's simple, really.

5. Find a reason to wake up early. For me, scheduling out my day makes me feel 10X more productive. Something about having a routine always tends to get me up and running. Try and encourage yourself to get out of bed, as silly as that sounds.

This is just some ways that I have found have helped me to slowly depart from my lay-in days, and hopefully they will be able to help you too. But hey, remember, a cheeky lay-in every now and then never hurt nobody.
